Short version: your texts and calls go from your phone to your Mac and nowhere else. I don't want your data.
- Myna collects nothing. No analytics, no crash reports, no account, and no server of mine in the middle.
- The phone and the Mac talk directly, over your Wi-Fi or the phone's hotspot. Everything between them is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, using a key made when you scan the pairing code. The key stays in the Mac's Keychain and in Myna's private storage on the phone.
- On the phone, Myna reads your texts, contact names and call state so the Mac can show them, and sends texts or places calls only when you ask from the Mac. It doesn't keep its own copy.
- On the Mac, texts are kept in memory while Myna runs and are gone when it quits. Your block list and the changes waiting for your phone are saved in Myna's preferences on the Mac.
- The camera and mic run only while a Meet tab is using Myna's camera or mic. The picture and sound go from the phone to the Mac and into that browser tab, and are never recorded or saved.
- Find Ads is off until you use it. With Ollama or LM Studio, it runs on your Mac and nothing leaves it. With ChatGPT or Claude, the last three texts from each sender you never replied to go to OpenAI or Anthropic when you press Check Texts, under that company's own privacy terms. Conversations you've replied to are never sent.
- If you add an API key for Find Ads, it's stored in your macOS Keychain, not in the settings.
- To delete, mark read or block on the phone, Myna becomes the phone's SMS app for a moment, only after you approve it on the phone, and then asks you to give the role back.
- The code is open, so you can check all of this: github.com/truthofmatthew/myna.
